Rules for Round Robin
We're going to be using rules which are pretty common in tournament play, hopefully you won't actually notice a change.
- Time slots are 6:30-7:45 and 7:45-9:00
- Games will be played 15 or 1hr 15 minutes (assuming they start on time). If a team is not ready to play at the appointed time they are penalized 1pt for every 3 minutes they are late. Your team must be ready to play in order to be counting points (7 on the line). Note: if a team is following the caps appropriately, points cannot be counted against them (only applies to second game of double headers).
- Mirrored half at 8 (no rest break, just switch ends/pulls if appropriate)
- 1 time out per half, with a floater (can be used in either half). No time outs once you've been capped. Time outs last up to 70 seconds for the offense, defense has 20 seconds or until 90 seconds after the time out was first called to get in position and signal readiness (with a check).
- Timing between points must be respected:
- The receiving team must signal readiness to play within 70 seconds after the previous goal was scored.
- The pulling team must release the pull before the later to occur of:
- 90 seconds after the previous goal was scored; or
- 20 seconds after the receiving team signaled readiness
- Soft point cap happens at 50 minutes (7:20 and 8:35, not 50 minutes after you actually started), this means the game is now to the highest score of a team + 2 (if that value is less than 15, otherwise it stays at 15) still win by 2 points.
- Example: Professionals v TBD it's 7:20, after the current point finishes it is 11-10, the game is now played to 13 instead of 15, but you must still win by 2, so either team could win 13-11, but 13-12 would not be a vistory, it would need to be 14-12 and so on...
- Hard point cap happens at 65 minutes (7:35 and 8:50, not 65 minutes after you actually started), this means the game is now to the highest score of a team + 2 (if that value is less than 15, otherwise it stays at 15), first team to reach that point total wins.
- Example: Agents v GiP it's 8:50 and after the current point finishes it is 10-9, the game is now played to 12 instead of 15, first team to reach 12 is cistorious.
- Time caps at 7:45 and 9pm respectively, if the game is still goin on, it ends as soon as the current point is scored (regardless of score, so ties are possible)
- With all point caps, you finish the current point (points technically start as soon as the receiving team is on the field and has signaled readiness for the pull) before the cap is imposed. With the time cap you still complete the current point, but the game is over once the point is scored.
- Gender ration must be at least 2 women and at most 5 men. If you can't meet this ratio you either play short or you forfeir the game and play exclusively for fun (no glory). If possible 4/3|3/4 should be played, but this is voluntary (rather than mandatory) if it would force the women to play savage (if the men have to play savage too bad for them)
- Unless agreement is acheived between the captains using the captains clause all 11th edition rules are in full effect. Any conflict between the 11th edition and the BUDS 2010 playoff rules, the BUDS 2010 playoff rules are used.
Fields: We'll be using Kensington field #5 and Burnaby Heights (BH) park. Kensington #5 will be divided into Kensington West (KW) which is the half field closer to the trees/golf course and Kensington East (KE) which is closer to the tennis courts and bathrooms.
Games: start at 6:30, are to 17 with a mirrored half after one team scores 9 points.
